Room for alot of improvement.

The jumping was really dodgy, you kept moving too far after you'd let go of the arrow key which made simple things like jumping from platform to platform near impossible. The graphics were also badly resized in some places which leads to me say that either having the graphics bigger (as in the pixels double the size) or having the playing field smaller would've made things more pleasant on the eye. And is that a midi in the background music? If it is you totally change it to an mp3 of the actual music, or just download a remix and put that in. If you consider these things, it could be alot better! The action-script as a whole was pretty good, the jumping needs to be revised.

Nice beginner tutorial

This is a very good tutorial for beginners at flash. It is very easy to follow, it's pleasing to the eye and the menu is easy to navigate. The only thing I can suggest now is make one for the more advanced authors of flash. I personally learnt nothing new from this.

Thanks for the review.

Nice

I liked this, but I neither can get the jumping to work.

One thing that happens is he'll only jump if the key is down. If I let go of it, it'll go back to the stance immediately. He also doesn't travel down from his jump, so he will go up but not come back down. If you have an e-mail address, I would love to discuss these scripts in further detail with you!

You simply must make an advanced version with special moves, jumping and crouching attacks, collision detection, health bars
and whatnot.

Again, if you have an e-mail address, I'd love to go over some scripting with you.

Simply delightful

That coding was great, I wanna get some coding tips off you like:

It lagged my 3.00GHz

First off I saw 1 thing explode, then I pressed a button and another thing exploded, then everything was exploding left, right and center!!! Speaking of exploding, I did however think the explosions could've been animated better by fbf rather than a tweened circle. As good as it is, with some more fbf hand drawn special effects, it would've been stupid good. Like, ridiculously stupid good.

Marvelous piece of action scripting

Excellent coding there! However, an increased frame rate mightn't hurt and whatever happened to crouching?

I thought the graphics were bit poorly resized, making some pixels look more stretched than others.

I really loved the multiple levels and the ability to play as both Marco AND the Metal Slug.

Overall, I really liked it. Make more! ^_^

Very nice idea and action scripting

Some good action scripting and concept. You gotta make a sequel to a different (and better) song. I really liked it.

Also, get rid of the "vote 5" messages.

Truely a work of art

Before I get into my review, I'd like to give you an up-front congratulations on the sound. The voice of the character was absolutely crystal clear and very suitable for him.

You obviously put a huge amount of effort on the vector graphics and it shows! The graphics were very well drawn and funny! The amount of emotion on his face was very big!! I really liked the reflections in the water, that was clever.

I loved the cartoony style of how the characters moved. The leap-frog on the rocks, the sliding down the log, all great. I laughed when I missed the "vine" and saw the death sequence. Very funny.

The action-scripting was fairly good, too. Your main menu, sound test and game over screen were well coded, not to mention the movie itself! Very nice!!

Overall, I am a fan of Dragon's Lair and this was a great, quirky game for me! I would love to see more of this work!! Well done!

Woah! Fantastic!

I really, really like this!! You sound bar at the bottom looks very complex! Very nice piece of action-scripting here. Lemme give you a few tips for the full version:

1. Maybe add a death animation when you die?

2. Automatically bring it onto the next level when you pass a level. I found it annoying having click the button after a level.

3. What about some fire-balls? They'd be cool!

4. Add some different enemies instead of just those spikey things.

Apart from that, I can't find ANYTHING to nit-pick at. You've done a great job. Keep up the good work.

Very nice piece of action-scripting there

Your graphics, sound and action-scripting were truely beutiful. I really like the engine. Here are some tips for any future improvements on this game!

1. Add some range attacks. I found there that with nearly all the attacks, you had to be generally close to the opponent.

2. Add some jumping. Jumping would greatly increase the functionability of this game. You could use it for a dodge, but it'd look great with a flying side-kick on there.

3. Add some ducking. Likewise with above.

4. Add some real classy special moves. I saw the only really classy move there was the jumping spinning back-kick. It'd look and play fantastic with maybe some wind-mill or wheel kicks, how hard they'd be to animate I don't know.

Apart from that, the gaurd and throw system seemed fine! Thanks for such a great play!
